Saturday October 10 is World Mental Health Day 2020 and that means that people everywhere will be experiencing a renewed focus on their mental and emotional well-being. With the year we have had, marked by an increased suicide rate, the COVID-19 crisis, lockdowns, self-quarantines, and social distancing, this could be the most important year for World Mental Health Day.
Keeping that in mind, there have been many ways that we have cared for our mental and emotional well-being in the past and they have all seemed to work quite well regardless of what was going on in the world. One of those methods that has proven itself effective for many men and women is the healing connection that fragrances have on our emotional well-being.
Studies show that certain scents stimulate emotional effects in the brain. We already know that certain fragrances can give us a direct boost of confidence and energy, while others can help relieve anxiety and provide us a feeling of calm relaxation. The sense of smell is imprinted in our brains and once a memory is associated with a smell, the slightest hint of that scent will instantly recall the memory. Fragrances are also known to prompt soothing, sensual stimulation, and increase the healing processes.
